About Us

This site was brought into being by Jo Passmore and Matt Argyle in late 2006. We are web developers and we work together for the University of Chichester and individually as freelance web designers.

We had been thinking of the efreeko concept for a little while after having both had extremely positive experiences with the freecycle network. We felt there was a need for a website where, not only was it easier to see what was available, but it was also possible to receive items by post, from somebody outside of the local area, instead of being limited to items that could be picked up. Also, as keen ebayers, we were very aware that sometimes it is just too much effort to list something for which you are only going to receive a couple of pounds. Far better to just give it away!

Along with the above we also both have a desire to help reduce the amount of waste that ends up at local landfill sites every year. So much of it, although rubbish for the person who dumps it, has a use for somebody else.

A bit about us..........

Jo Passmore

Hi, I am 36 years old and have two small children. I have been working at the University of Chichester for the last 12 years, although part time since the arrival of my first child in 1999.

In the last two years I have also started up my own small business, designing websites. I specialise mainly in database driven sites (like this one) and eCommerce. I love this work and am looking forward to being able to spend more time developing websites as my children grow.

I am a Christian and attend a local baptist church. I have been known to play the drums in a worship band, but that has kind of taken a back seat recently!

Matt Argyle

Hello there, I have been designing and working on websites and databases since 1997 in corporate and the public sector. I am passionate about the envrionment and I believe that, as individuals we all have a part to play in reducing our carbon footprints, which is why I love the concept of efreeko !

For the past four years I have been running my own business designing websites, for all manner of different customers. I also run my own surf report website.

I am also a musician with one album released in 2004 and another one being recorded at the moment.

When I get spare time I enjoy surfing and windsurfing.
